The Event

The aim of "The Event" would be to promote a variety of hair styles from basic ones to the more extravagant and encourage people to do more with their hair.

Shockwaves would hire out a venue and people would be asked to indicate if they would like to attend and a number of them would be selected.

Before attending The Event, those lucky people will only be required to make sure they attend with styled hair.

At The Event, they will be treat like celebrities - they will walk down a red carpet as they enter the venue, enjoy mixing with the other invitees, sip champagne and enjoy a light finger buffet before taking their position to have their picture taken by a professional photographer.

All photos from The Event will be uploaded online where everyone will have access to an array of attractive and dazzling styles which may inspire them to change their own style or even start styling if they don't already.

It will also showcase the message that anyone can create a great look at home and feel like a celebrity! (with links to retailers which sell shockwaves :P)

This is a little like the Secret Parties idea but with an even greater emphasis on hair so it does get a vote UP from me! It sounds like a VIP event, which is obviously appealing! :-P Plus, I like that this would inspire regular people to be creative with their styles.

Yeah I agree with tinkadele, it's very similar to Guy's post, just with a VIP edge! I love the idea that you'd be treated like a celebrity and I think it would make a lot of people use the product more in the chance they'd get invited!

This is a cool idea! It reminds me of the sort of thing you see in the youtube ad's before a song :P There was a recent one with Nivea and random men in the public, but I can see this idea working similarly well :)

Apart from the finger buffet and photo op - does anything else happen at the event?

no - this would be a high quality, enjoyable experience and plus if it was to include extras like music, it would become arguable that it is a duplicate! haha - so in the spirit of promoting unique ideas, this one remains as described

Really? No music? I totally get where you're coming from with the whole promoting unique ideas, but parties without music are horrible! When conversation lulls you want music to be able to dance to! How would you recommend not making it boring without having the whole "duplicate idea" problem?

Hi, this event wouldn't be a party but more of a gathering and it wouldn't last more than a few hours, so music wouldn't be required.

I get where you are coming from in terms of it becoming boring, however I think if it is deployed right, the experience as a whole and the interactions between the people there and the people running it will be enough to give them a unique and exciting experience.

As a side comment, this is the first community I have come across where ideas can be submitted and if they are slightly similar to someone elses they are penalised on grounds such as shockwaves may have a hard time going through all the text - I seem to differ in opinion by thinking that any company who is paying for ideas to be generated would welcome even the smallest detail which makes a similar idea different as the smallest contribution can have the largest impact and I have never come across a large organisation which doesn't value masses of ideas to wade through rather than just a few lol

Hi Monkey bear fear not we are going through all the text so you won't be penalised! What's fun for us facilitators is watching ideas as they develop and build so please carry on! We will be closing the new ideas session tomorrow and are busy summing up all this content into 10 ideas everyone to vote on so watch this space.

Right I'm with you - to be honest the fact that it wouldn't be a party means that it is different from the private party of Guy's because it's a different concept! I get now why you wouldn't bother with music, I think it's a really good idea that if it were put into place would generate a lot of inspirational hairstyles!
