Virtual Scrap-booking

Provide a network in which people can create a sort of virtual scrapbook of ideas, useful products and blogs.

Sometimes I forget a hairstyle I've tried, or I forget the products that worked well for different hairstyles so a virtual scrap book would be an easy way to save useful video clips, write a blog, provide advice on how to recreate a style or just upload pictures. You could make a whole interactive community where people could access each others ideas but I think it would just be a really good way to keep all your ideas in one accessible area! Plus you could involve adverts related to the looks you're going for and Shockwaves could leave suggestions as to products they think you'd like.

Personally, I like the virtual scrap-booking idea. I had a similar thought myself, which I will probably still post later even though it's very much the same. I think that this kind of feature could just give Shockwave the edge, something different. One place to store and keep all of your tips, inspiration, photos... and then look into someone else's scrapbook - love it!

I don't know about a virtual scrapbook, but it would be awesome to see somewhere where a video of a hairstyle is uploaded, and then people are able to share their versions and attempts. The shockwaves adverts could definitely use that kind of system.

I like the idea of people showing their own versions of it and I know that sometimes when I'm with my friends I will have to ask them what they think something looks like, whether they like it or how I could do it differently. Working on your ideas, you could have a live instant messaging type of system where you could be hooked up to a Shockwave expert who you could talk face to face with and they could tell you what kinds of products would help you depending on styles? Someone that actually understands hair and you could just ask whenever you need help!

scrap booking is a big thing with some crafty people. If Shockwaves could make hundreds of little virtual borders, bows, ribbons, coloured textures papers, etc to pretty up your page I bet some people would really get into it.
Perfect for brides to be and bridesmaid, and brides mothers and all that... for hair planning. Boys I'm aware this is turning into a girls idea - what would be the equivalent for you?

Yeah I agree with the whole bride thing but I still think it could be customized for lads. If you just provided a range of different borders and lay outs I think people could just fill it in with whatever they want it to be about!

Hmm I agree that some people would get into it but when I have of loads of virtual customisations, I tend to think of the many social networks and similar websites out that which have tried the same and for some reason lacked appeal. This would be a concern for me regarding this idea.

Maybe this could be more like the ''scrapbook' idea that Channel 4 have where all the individual presenters have a web page with all the things related to them on it (eg Kirsty Allsop's page would have crafts on it whereas Jamie Oliver's would have cookery). You can take things from each page and combine them all together into one scrapbook that you make yourself on their website so all the things on it are relevant to you without the added things you don't like.
This could be translated into something similar for Shockwaves where people upload hairstyles they've created using certain products onto that product scrapbook page (could be photos and video tutorials or hints and tips for using the product), and the ones that you like could be taken and put onto your own user page within the Shockwaves site?

Hi, not sure I am a fan of the scrap book idea because although it may be useful for people to keep a record of things they find, the idea what users will go through others scrapbooks to feed from their ideas etc I can't see working as it could be very boring and laborious - especially if 90% of the information you come across is poor or low quality.

I think that as long as there was some sort of search function, people would still be able to find the product/tutorial/idea that they were looking for. Just because one person dislikes a tutorial wouldn't necessarily mean that everyone would. And besides, some people enjoy searching through posts and things like that. If they didn't, Pinterest wouldn't be anywhere near as successful as it is. It might be easier to simply create a Shockwaves Pinterest page with these guides on them (if there isn't one already - I've not actually checked) and people can simply check there using an already existing system.
